18 month old toddler health and developmental milestones

3 Things You’ve Likely Seen This Month

  1. They’re on the move! 🏃‍♂️Walking, running, and climbing have become second nature as your toddler’s gross motor skills take off.
  2. Words are flowing 🌊 Expect your toddler to have a vocabulary of 10–20 words (or more!), and they may even combine two words like “want cookie.”
  3. Testing boundaries (and your patience)! 🧘 Your little one is exploring independence and testing limits—hello, mini tantrums! It’s all part of their emotional growth.

What’s Coming Up in Month 19?

  1. Expanded Vocabulary: Your toddler will add more words to their repertoire and start understanding two-step instructions like “Pick up your toy and bring it to me.”
  2. Climbing Everything: Expect them to conquer stairs, furniture, and anything else they can manage. Safety gates are a must!
  3. Pretend Play: Watch their imagination blossom as they mimic you by “cooking,” “talking on the phone,” or caring for dolls or stuffed animals.

Proactive Tip: Encourage language development by narrating daily activities, and introduce pretend play toys to spark their creativity.
