15 month old toddler health and developmental milestones

Developmental milestonesMay 18, 2025Dahlia Rimmon, MS, RDN2 min read

3 Things You’ve Likely Seen This Month

  1. They’re always on the go! 👶 Whether they’re walking confidently or running, your toddler’s mobility is taking off. They’re exploring their environment with endless curiosity!
  2. Words, words, words! 🙊 You’re likely hearing more words (or word-like sounds) as they start to name objects and express needs. Keep talking and reading to encourage their language skills.
  3. Pointing at everything! 🫵 Pointing is a big step in communication—it shows they’re learning to share their interests and understand the world around them.

What’s Coming Up in Month 16?

  1. More Words and Gestures: Expect more attempts at saying words and communicating through gestures like nodding or shaking their head.
  2. Imitating Actions: Your toddler will love copying what you do—whether it’s sweeping the floor or talking on the phone.
  3. Fine Motor Skills Development: They’ll enjoy activities like stacking blocks or turning pages in a board book as their hand coordination improves.

Proactive Tip: Offer opportunities for imitation and fine motor play, like building towers or playing with chunky puzzles.
